Anna’s Hummingbird


Look at this beautiful hummingbird, from the west coast of North America!

It’s called the Anna’s Hummingbird that’s famous for its iridescent feather. They are really colourful with pink and emerald feathers and grow no bigger than a golf ball. Female birds are usually less brilliant than male ones. They usually eat nectar from flowers and small insects. You can see them in parks and the backyards of houses where they have flowering plants. They can shake their body 55 times per second while they are flying. Just imagine that speed! There are around 1.5 million of them in the world. They are a real jewel of nature!
